Competition is not exactly training but it is useful, for example I was in competition and shot a rifle stage very poorly, why well I sighted in on a brush guard on my AR or AK what ever I was using that day, when discovered what I had done near the end of the course of fire, I found that I needed to make a change to my rifle and bought a $5.00 set of Tapco brightly colored front sight posts and installed them in all my ARs and AKs. That mistake would have cost me big in a Force on Force situation, by learning a lesson in Competition I prevented a serious future problem. Under stress it is very possible to sight in on the wrong upright.

Competition is like racing is for the auto industry try out ideas see how they work before adopting them for mass production.
